iStage is a Hong Kong theatre group registered as a charitable organisation as well as the recipient of the one-year grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
Under the leadership of veteran theatre practitioner, Lau Ho-cheung, Elton and Cheng Gi-gi, iStage was formally established in 2007 and became the Venue Partner of Sheung Wan Civic Centre since 2015. With numerous dramas, comedies, musicals and family productions, iStage is focused on the originality of screenplays with down-to-earth yet diversified topics. Productions by iStage received multiple nominations and awards at the Hong Kong Drama Awards and the Hong Kong Theatre Libre.
iStage adheres to the principles of “original concepts”, “PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied) integration”, and “cross-border collaborations” in its artistic creations towards the goals of diversity and popularisation of art. Its works are strongly styled in theatricalism with unique stage elements, innovative and challenging in its format of performance and treatment of screenplays. iStage is dedicated to high-quality stage productions, always planning future works with innovative thinking and style.
In addition, iStage is committed to arts promotion among the younger generation. Since 2014, iStage had more than several hundred touring performances in schools and different communities, promoting theatre while conveying positive messages in fun and interesting ways. Their works are enthusiastically received by primary and secondary school students.
